Vincent Aboubakar sends heartfelt message of support to Burkina Faso’s Stallions
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations fast approaching, Burkina Faso’s national team continues its preparations in Morocco — and this week, their camp received an unexpected yet inspiring visitor.
Cameroonian star Vincent Aboubakar, a former AFCON winner and one of the continent’s most celebrated forwards, paid a fraternal visit to the Stallions to wish them success ahead of the tournament.
Currently training in Lanoria during the November international break, Brama Traoré’s men are fine-tuning their plans before friendly matches against Niger on November 14 and Benin on November 18.
During their training session, the Stallions welcomed Aboubakar, whose presence drew excitement among players and staff alike.
The 33-year-old Cameroon captain — top scorer at the 2021 AFCON with eight goals and the hero of the 2017 final against Egypt — took time to observe the team’s preparations before engaging warmly with the group.
Clearly touched by the hospitality shown to him, Aboubakar shared a message of solidarity that transcended sporting rivalries.
“It’s a pleasure for me, and the way the coach and his team welcomed me is truly heartwarming. On the pitch, we may be opponents, but off the pitch, we’re family, we’re Africa, and it’s a great pleasure to come and spend time with brothers. I wish you much success in the friendly matches and especially in the AFCON. May God help you have a great AFCON, even win it,” he said.
His words, simple yet powerful, reflected the deep spirit of unity that defines African football.
For Aboubakar, who has represented clubs such as FC Porto, Besiktas, and Al Nassr, the visit was about more than camaraderie — it was a gesture of shared respect and encouragement towards a team that has long chased continental glory.
The Stallions, who famously reached the AFCON final in 2013 and have been semi-finalists several times since, are again viewed as strong contenders for the title in Morocco.
Aboubakar’s visit served as a reminder that the competition, while fiercely contested, also embodies the bonds that unite nations across Africa.
As Burkina Faso continue their build-up to the 35th edition of the tournament, Aboubakar’s blessing stands as a symbol of sportsmanship at its finest.
In offering his goodwill to potential rivals, the Indomitable Lion reminded everyone that true greatness in football lies not only in victories, but in humility and fraternity.
