CAF and PUMA reveal official match ball for AFCON Morocco 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and global sports brand PUMA have unveiled the official match ball for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

Named ITRI, the ball draws inspiration from Morocco’s centuries-old zellij art form, famous for intricate geometric mosaics.

The design celebrates the unity and passion of African football while paying tribute to the Moroccan star featured on the national flag.

PUMA launched the ITRI ball with a reveal video ahead of its debut at the tournament, which begins on 21 December 2025.

CAF described the ball as a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.

The ball incorporates central star geometry, floral petal outlines, and circular symmetry.

Each element carries meaning: the star represents ambition and excellence; the petals signify growth and celebration; and the circular patterns reflect the unity of the 24 competing nations.

Additional Flow of Movement patterns capture the rhythm and dynamism of African football.

Its red and green palette represents passion, hope, and national pride.

Mohamed Ghonemi, CAF’s Creative Development Manager, said: “The AFCON 2025 ball brings together art, motion, and African spirit.

Collaborating with PUMA allowed us to create a design that unites every nation in the tournament.”

The design process combined cultural research, creative exploration, and performance testing.

CAF’s team worked closely with PUMA’s global design unit to ensure the ball authentically represents Moroccan artistry while meeting elite competition standards.

Built with PUMA’s Orbita 6 technology, the ITRI ball blends heritage and innovation, ensuring top-level performance for players.

Peter Dangl, PUMA’s Director EEMEA Distribution, added: “ITRI celebrates Morocco’s heritage and the unity of African football.

This collaboration demonstrates PUMA’s commitment to African football and its communities.”

Fans can purchase the ITRI match ball in regional markets for €130, and more information is available at www.puma.com. For updates on the tournament, visit www.cafonline.com.
