I will be 100 percent ready for AFCON 2025 – South African midfielder Themba Zwane
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has declared he will 100 percent ready for the impending 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco next month.
The 35th edition of the continental showpiece has been scheduled to commence on December 21, 2025 through to January 18, 2026, with 32 countries set to battle for the covetous trophy in the North African country.
Zwane, who has been out of action for Mamelodi Sundowns since September has declared himself ready for the AFCON 2025. His return come as a huge boost for Hugo Broos and the South Africa national team, who are seeking to make a meaningful impact.
“Now, I’m feeling good, I’m alright and running without feeling any pain,” said Zwane on Monday after the CAF Champions League draw.
“But now, I’m just doing more strengthening so that I can be more stronger. I’m looking forward to be back on the pitch. 100%, I will be ready for AFCON,” said Zwane.
While injured, Bafana managed to qualify for next year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico, where he was expected to play a major role.
The Bafana Bafana finished third in the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament, held in Ivory Coast, with the Elephant triumphing over Nigeria to annex the title.
