Wenger warns Real Madrid could cash in on Vinicius Junior after El Clásico fallout

Arsene Wenger believes Real Madrid could part ways with Vinicius Junior soon, insisting the Brazilian forward’s conduct has strained relations with the club’s hierarchy.

Vinicius, who has Cameroonian roots through his family heritage, has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks following a series of controversial on-field reactions and a visible display of frustration during his substitution in the El Clásico.

Speaking on beIN Sports, the former Arsenal manager expressed doubts about the 24-year-old’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“Real Madrid has a question mark over Vinicius,” Wenger said. “I am not completely convinced that Vinicius’ future lies at Real Madrid.”

Wenger, 76, said the forward’s behavior during his substitution in the derby “has not been accepted at Real Madrid,” noting that the club has always prioritized its image above any individual player.

“Real Madrid has always had one desire: to demonstrate that the club is bigger than any player,” he added.

The remarks come amid growing uncertainty surrounding Vinicius’ contract situation.

Despite over a year of discussions, Real Madrid and the player’s representatives remain far from agreeing to a new deal. His current contract runs until 2027, but insiders believe the club’s patience may be wearing thin.

Vinicius has been one of Madrid’s standout performers in recent seasons, playing a pivotal role in their Champions League and La Liga triumphs.

However, his emotional outbursts, clashes with opponents, and off-pitch controversies have often drawn criticism, even from within the club.

Wenger’s comments echo the growing sentiment in Spanish football circles that Madrid could consider selling Vinicius if tensions persist.

His market value remains high, with clubs across Europe reportedly monitoring the situation closely.

If Madrid decide to cash in, it would mark the end of a significant chapter for a player once viewed as the future face of the club.
