Pyramids FC to face Gor Mahia in September

CAF has officially informed Pyramids FC of the date and venue for their CAF Champions League first-round meeting with Kenyan side Gor Mahia.

Pyramids will travel to Nairobi for the first leg of the round of 64, with the match scheduled for Sunday, September 6, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The Egyptian club are currently preparing for the new season, with the CAF Champions League forming part of a demanding campaign that will also see them compete for the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup.

Pyramids have been stepping up their preparations through a series of friendly matches during their pre-season camp.

They recently recorded an emphatic 6-0 victory over Emirati side Modern Dubai at the Air Defense Stadium before following it up with a 2-1 win over Eastern Enppi.

The return leg against Gor Mahia will take place in Cairo, with the match scheduled for one of September 11, 12 or 13 at the Air Defense Stadium.

Pyramids will be hoping to secure a positive result in Nairobi before returning home for the second leg as they begin their quest to make another deep run in Africa’s premier club competition.

Should Pyramids eliminate Gor Mahia, they will advance to the round of 32, where they will face the winner of the preliminary-round tie between Hagan of Somalia and Al-Merreikh Bentiu of South Sudan.

The CAF Champions League campaign will be a major part of Pyramids’ season, with the club aiming to challenge on both the domestic and continental fronts.
