Ivory Coast coach Émerse Faé has identified Franco-Ivorian striker Ange-Yoan Bonny as a potential replacement for Sébastien Haller in the national team’s attack.

The 22-year-old Inter Milan forward continues to impress despite serving as Marcus Thuram’s understudy at the Italian club.

Bonny, born in Aubervilliers, France, has displayed great potential since the start of the season.

His development and consistent performances have drawn strong attention from Faé, who considers him a serious option for the Elephants.

Speaking on Canal+ Afrique’s J+1 program, Faé confirmed the ongoing talks with Bonny and his representatives.

“We’ve followed him for a long time, even before his move to Inter Milan,” Faé said.

“We’re in discussions with him and his entourage. We hope he’ll be attracted by both the collective and individual project we’re offering.”

Standing at 1.89 meters, Bonny combines strength, speed, and technical precision. He fits the profile of the modern striker Faé wants to lead the Ivory Coast frontline.

After developing at Châteauroux and breaking through at Parma, Bonny’s determination earned him a €24 million transfer to Inter, where his performances have justified the club’s investment.

The striker remains a hot topic between France and Ivory Coast. Though Bonny has never played for the French senior team, he has represented France at U19, U20, and U21 levels. His decision on international allegiance remains pending.

With France transitioning after Olivier Giroud’s era, Bonny might still eye a future with Les Bleus. However, Ivory Coast, buoyed by recent continental success, remains optimistic about convincing him.

In 13 appearances this season, Bonny has scored three goals and provided four assists. His versatility allows him to play as a target man or drift behind defenders, drawing comparisons to Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Thuram.

If Bonny commits to the Elephants, it would be a major gain for Émerse Faé’s side and a move that strengthens their attacking future
