Bodrum FK bring in Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar on a free transfer
Bodrum FK have signed Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar from Neftchi PFK on a free transfer, adding the 34-year-old centre-forward to their squad in Turkey’s 1.Lig.
Aboubakar moves to Bodrum after less than a year with Azerbaijan club Neftchi, whom he joined in October 2025 after a spell without a club. His arrival gives Bodrum an experienced international forward with a substantial record in Turkey, Portugal and European competition.
The striker has made 116 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring 52 goals and providing 14 assists. He has also registered 36 goals in 83 Liga Portugal appearances and scored 14 times in 23 Champions League matches.
Aboubakar began his senior career with Coton Sport in Cameroon before moving to France, where he joined Valenciennes in 2010. He later played for Lorient, then moved to Porto in 2014 for €12.3m. His time in Portugal included two league titles with Porto, in 2017-18 and 2019-20, as well as the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup.
He has enjoyed two spells at Besiktas, winning the Turkish league twice and the Turkish Cup twice. He was also part of the Besiktas side that won the Turkish Super Cup in 2024-25. Between those spells, he played in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr before returning to Turkey with Hatayspor in 2024.
At international level, Aboubakar has won the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon, lifting the trophy in 2017. He was the tournament’s leading scorer at the 2021 edition, finishing with eight goals.
The right-footed forward stands 1.84m tall and arrives with a career that includes domestic honours in Portugal and Turkey, along with extensive experience in the Champions League and Europa League.
Bodrum FK completed Aboubakar’s move from Neftchi on 28 August 2026.
