CAF Champions League: Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane backs team to progress from Group C
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has expressed confidence in his team’s chances of advancing from Group C of the CAF Champions League, despite being drawn alongside MC Alger, Al Hilal, and St. Eloi Lupopo.
The draw, held on Monday afternoon at the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg, set up an intriguing reunion as Sundowns will face MC Alger, led by their former head coach Rulani Mokwena.
The encounter will mark Mokwena’s return to Tshwane for the first time since his departure from Masandawana over two seasons ago.
“That’s the Champions League for you; you can’t choose who you want to play. But for our group, it’s an exciting one. I know we have a good team with quality players. We just have to bring our A-game in every match and put the team in a position to qualify for the next round,” Zwane said after the draw.

“I think there won’t be too much drama. There’s so much respect for him — he’s done a lot for the club and we like him. He’s a good human being and a good coach; we learnt so much from him as players,” Zwane added.
