English-Nigerian star Bukayo Saka backs Arsenal’s squad depth to drive Premier League title push
Bukayo Saka believes Arsenal’s improved squad depth gives them the edge in their bid to end their two-decade wait for a Premier League title.
The English-Nigerian forward says Mikel Arteta’s men have shown resilience and balance this season, coping well despite several injuries to key players.
Arsenal sit four points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Bournemouth, with Manchester City and Liverpool trailing further behind.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Saka said the Gunners’ greater strength across the squad has been vital to maintaining their title charge.
“This year I feel we’re a very strong group and we’ve got a lot of quality. We’ve already suffered a lot of injuries, but the players that have come in have shown that we can all keep the level at the highest,” he said.
Arsenal have finished runners-up for the past three seasons, often undone by a lack of depth during crucial stages of the campaign.
But after a £250 million summer outlay on eight signings, Arteta now has the luxury of rotation without a significant drop in quality.
Saka believes that difference could be decisive. “I think that’s where we’ve slipped off in a few seasons, but this season, we’ve got that and it’s making me really believe we can do it,” he added.
The 24-year-old also hopes 2026 could deliver a historic double: winning both the Premier League and the World Cup with England.
“That’s my prayer. Of course it is doable,” he said. “You can’t really do anything if you don’t believe in it.”
Saka praised England manager Thomas Tuchel’s impact, describing him as “very demanding” and capable of guiding the team to success.
“He has shown in the past he can win at the highest level,” Saka said.
