I am not worried about Mohamed Salah’s form – Liverpool boss Arne Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has downplayed concerns over Mohamed Salah’s early-season form, insisting the Egyptian forward will soon return to his prolific best.

Salah has found the net just three times in the current campaign, and after four consecutive defeats—including Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield—Slot chose to start him on the bench for Wednesday night’s 5-1 Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The main thing is that he always has scored goals for Liverpool,” Slot replied when asked about Salah’s form in a news conference on Friday.

“The last thing I worry about is Mo scoring goals again. He’s done that his entire life and I expect him to do that again in the upcoming weeks and months.”

Slot introduced summer signings Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz in a refreshed system against Frankfurt, but Isak’s first-half groin injury could see Salah return to the starting lineup for Saturday’s trip to Brentford.

The Egyptian winger is currently experiencing his longest Premier League goal drought since joining Liverpool in 2017, having gone seven matches without a non-penalty goal.

“In general, in football, players miss chances, and he is a human being. We are not used to him missing chances,” Slot said.

The Liverpool manager also pointed to squad changes—including the departure of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid—as a possible factor behind Salah’s slower start.

“It could be a factor [no Alexander-Arnold] as he played his entire Liverpool career [up to this season] with him, but he has been in promising positions to score goals,” Slot said.

“In general, quite a few changes in the squad from the summer mean everyone needs to find new connections again. It might have something to do with that.”

Salah was Liverpool’s top scorer last season with 29 goals and added 18 assists as the club secured the Premier League title.
