Omar Marmoush returns as Manchester City prepare for Villarreal clash
Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, has announced his squad for the crucial Champions League match against Villarreal in Spain, with Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush headlining the traveling party after making a successful recovery from injury.
Marmoush returned to action last weekend, watching City’s 2-0 win over Everton from the bench, marking his comeback since a knee injury sidelined him for nearly a month.
The injury occurred while playing for Egypt against Burkina Faso in World Cup qualifiers in September. Egypt has since officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, thanks to impressive performances by Mohamed Salah and teammates like Marmoush, Mostafa Mohamed, and Mohamed El-Shenawy.
The Manchester City squad also welcomes the return of Algeria’s Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is back after an ankle injury.
Omar Marmoush has played 3 Premier League matches this season, totaling 150 minutes, with 1 assist, 5 shots (2 on target), and an 84.8% pass completion rate.
