In a night filled with emotion and pride, Pyramids FC made club history by securing their first-ever CAF Super Cup title with a narrow 1-0 win over RS Berkane at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium.
The breakthrough arrived in the 75th minute: Congolese forward Fiston Mayele, in fine form after his recent hat trick in Saudi Arabia, slotted home the match-winner from a clever pass by Moroccan teammate Walid El Karti.
The victory marked more than just a trophy for Pyramids, it was a triumph for Egyptian football as the club became the nation’s first Super Cup winners outside the duo of Al Ahly and Zamalek. Under the guidance of Croatian manager Krunoslav Jurcic, Pyramids held their nerve in a match full of tactical discipline, resisting several dangerous chances from Nahdat Berkane, who once again came up short at the final hurdle.
With key figures from African and Egyptian football in attendance, including CAF president Patrice Motsepe, the Pyramids players and fans savored a moment that signals a new era for the club and for the competition, a sign of new challengers emerging on the continental stage
