Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC clinched their first-ever CAF Super Cup title after edging past Morocco’s RS Berkane 1-0 at the 30 June Stadium on Saturday evening.

The African champions, led by Krunoslav Jurčić, fielded a strong lineup that included Walid El Karti, Blati Touré, Moustapha Fathy, and Fiston Mayele, while Munir, Mamadou Camara, and Youssef Mehri featured prominently for the Moroccan side.

Pyramids started brightly, with Mayele nearly opening the scoring within the first five minutes. The Congolese striker broke through the Berkane defence but saw his effort hit the side-netting from a tight angle.

Despite that early scare, the Confederation Cup holders, RS Berkane, remained composed and pressed forward with determination, fighting for every ball across the pitch.

Their best chance of the half came after the half-hour mark when Paul Bassene found himself in space inside the box but was denied by goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy.

The intensity continued into the second half, with both sides defending resolutely and chances few and far between. Berkane nearly broke the deadlock through Ayoub Khairi’s curling free-kick, but El-Shenawy reacted well to keep the score level.

The breakthrough finally came for Pyramids when Mayele made a clever run down the flank and struck a powerful shot that bounced off the far post and into the net, a decisive moment that sealed the contest.

Head coach Jaime Pacheco made tactical substitutions to protect the lead, introducing Rayane Aabid and withdrawing Camara to solidify the midfield.

In the end, Pyramids FC comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to secure a historic 1-0 victory, marking their maiden CAF Super Cup triumph and adding another milestone to their rapid rise in African football.
