Diomansy Kamara Tells Marc Brys to Respect Samuel Eto’o

Former Senegalese international Diomansy Kamara has urged Cameroon coach Marc Brys to show greater respect for Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation.

Kamara shared his views as tensions between the two figures continue to dominate discussions around the national team.

Cameroon remains focused on the 2026 World Cup play-offs, yet the conflict between Brys and Eto’o continues to cast a shadow over preparations.

The strained relationship has sparked debate within the football community, with several analysts calling for calm and unity.

During his appearance on Canal+’s Talents d’Afrique programme, Kamara expressed disappointment at the ongoing dispute. He insisted that the Belgian coach should demonstrate humility and acknowledge Eto’o’s immense contribution to African football.

“He owes Samuel Eto’o respect for everything he has done for Cameroon and for the continent,” Kamara said. “I think a coach like that cannot even get a European national team.

We laugh about it, but it hurts me deeply. Cameroon is a nation that made us all dream with legends like Roger Milla. It is one of Africa’s great football giants.”

Kamara also criticised Brys for what he described as a condescending attitude. He felt that the coach approached his position without the respect and understanding the Cameroonian football culture deserves.

“I didn’t like his outburst,” Kamara added. “He comes to Cameroon and gives moral lessons instead of showing humility.”

The conflict between Brys and Eto’o began soon after the coach’s appointment. Their disagreements over team selection and management have grown increasingly public, fuelling criticism from fans and former players alike.

Many believe that the ongoing feud could affect the team’s morale ahead of crucial fixtures.

Kamara’s comments echo a wider sentiment within African football circles. Several pundits view Eto’o as one of the continent’s most influential figures, both for his achievements as a player and his current leadership role.

For them, respect between the federation and coaching staff remains essential for national progress.

Cameroon’s preparation for the upcoming play-offs continues despite the internal tension. The Indomitable Lions aim to secure their place in the 2026 World Cup, building on their proud record as one of Africa’s most successful teams.

Kamara’s words highlight the emotional connection many former players still feel towards Cameroonian football

His message called for professionalism, unity, and mutual respect among those tasked with guiding the nation forward.

Whether Brys responds to Kamara’s remarks remains to be seen, but the debate over his relationship with Eto’o continues to dominate headlines.

As the team focuses on qualification, supporters hope for a resolution that restores harmony within the national setup.
