FIFA President congratulates Ghana on World Cup qualification: "Your fans will bring colour, style and passion to 2026"

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Ghana’s Black Stars after they secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the team’s achievement and hailing the passion of Ghanaian supporters ahead of the global showpiece in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

In a special video message released following Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Comoros in Accra on Sunday, Infantino commended the Black Stars for reaching the World Cup for the fifth time in the nation’s history, describing their qualification as a proud moment for the country and the entire African continent.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history,” Infantino said.

“Your fans will bring color, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States.”

The FIFA President also expressed confidence that Ghana would continue to produce world-class talent capable of leaving their mark on the biggest stage, just as the iconic 2010 squad did when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals in South Africa.

“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarter-finals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010,” he added.

“But for now, enjoy this special moment, and we cannot wait to see who the Black Stars will face when we have the final tournament draw on the fifth of December. See you all very soon. Well done. Congratulations. Bye.”

Ghana’s qualification means the Black Stars will join Africa’s elite in representing the continent at the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup, set to kick off in June 2026.

The four-time African champions will now turn their focus to preparations for the tournament, with the draw scheduled for December 5, when the world will discover Ghana’s group-stage opponents.

The achievement marks another milestone in Ghana’s rich football history, reaffirming their status as one of Africa’s most consistent and passionate footballing nations.
