2026 World Cup Qualifiers: My players are motivated to play against South Africa – Zimbabwe coach Michael Nees
Zimbabwe head coach Michael Nees has issued a stern warning to South Africa ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Warriors will face Bafana Bafana at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, a home away from home, with kick-off scheduled at 18:00 GMT.
Although Zimbabwe are no longer in contention for a spot at next year’s World Cup, set to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, Nees insists his team is ready to spoil the party for SA.
And ahead of a tough encounter against Bafana, Nees believes that the Warriors are prepared to exact revenge after losing the first leg fixture in June last year.
“The boys are motivated and working hard. We know what’s at stake and are confident that we can perfect our strategies before kickoff,” Nees said, according to Sports247.
“Every team we face will meet a Zimbabwe side ready to fight. We have analysed our past games, learned from our mistakes, and are coming back stronger.
“That’s the spirit I want [having local players who show hunger], everyone fighting for the shirt. It’s not just about playing, it’s about representing the nation with pride,” he added.
