Trionda unveiled as the official ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
FIFA has unveiled Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, during a ceremony in New York.
Created by Adidas, which has supplied every World Cup ball since 1970, the new design introduces cutting-edge technology and enhanced performance features ahead of the tournament.
The ball incorporates deep seams and an advanced grip to ensure greater stability and control in flight, addressing demands from elite players for a more predictable trajectory.
Its construction also includes raised icons to improve handling, particularly in wet conditions.
Celebrating the unity of the three host nations — the United States, Mexico and Canada — Trionda is decorated with symbolic motifs in red, blue and green.
An eagle represents Mexico, maple leaves signify Canada, and stars evoke the United States, bringing together the emblems of each country into one design.
FIFA said the ball “embodies the spirit of collaboration and inclusivity” that underpins the expanded tournament.
A notable technological innovation inside Trionda is an integrated chip capable of transmitting real-time data to assist VAR officials.
This feature builds on the semi-automated offside technology used at the 2022 World Cup and is expected to further improve decision-making accuracy during matches.
The ball reflects not only innovation but also the unity of the three host nations, Adidas stated at the launch. The company emphasised that extensive testing with professional players around the world had shaped the final product, aiming to deliver the most advanced and responsive World Cup ball to date.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be the largest in the tournament’s history with 48 participating teams, runs from 11 June to 19 July across multiple cities in the three host countries.
FIFA confirmed that tickets will be released progressively online in the lead-up to the event.
The draw for the tournament is scheduled to take place on 5 December in Washington, where groups and fixtures will be determined.
With Trionda now officially unveiled, attention will turn to the stadiums and teams that will showcase the ball’s performance on football’s biggest stage.
FIFA officials hailed the launch as a milestone on the road to 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter for a competition set to break records in scale, diversity and innovation.
