Togolese coach Nibombé Daré announced a 25-man squad on Thursday, October 2, for their final two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Togo will host DR Congo on October 10 at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé before travelling to Juba to face South Sudan on October 13.

Daré’s selection blends experience with homegrown talent, including five locally based players led by Amoudane Ouro-Ayeva of ASCK.

With Togo already out of contention, sitting fourth in Group B on seven points, the coach wants his side to finish the campaign with pride and purpose.

The squad reveals significant changes from the August list. In goal, Fadle Tondoro Cissé and Abdoul-Laziz Sambaou return, replacing Youssouf Morou and Achirafou Yaya.

The defence welcomes Sadik Fofana, while Josué Homawoo misses out through injury. Ouro-Ayeva represents the domestic contingent in the back line.

Midfield reinforcements include Samsondin Ouro and Roger Aholou, with Kodjo Aziangbe dropped.

Up front, David Henen switches to a central role, while Etienne Amenvido and Guillaume Yenoussi join the attack. Franck Mawuena misses out.

The presence of five local players — Cissé, Ouro-Ayeva, Evra Agbagno, Aholou and Isaac Monglo — reflects Daré’s emphasis on national identity as they prepare to face DR Congo, who sit second with 16 points, and bottom-placed South Sudan on four points.

Togo’s final fixtures will test their resilience. They host DR Congo in Lomé’s Kégué Stadium, where victory is crucial to end the campaign on a high.

Three days later, they travel to Juba for a challenging clash with South Sudan, where the attacking experience of Kodjo Laba and Kevin Denkey could prove decisive.

These matches may also determine Daré’s future after failing to qualify for AFCON 2025.
