Franco-Algerian winger Maghnes Akliouche recovers from illness for Manchester City clash
France international of Algerian descent Maghnes Akliouche is available for AS Monaco’s Champions League clash against Manchester City.
Akliouche missed the Principality clash against Lorient at the weekend due to illness. In his absence Monaco succumbed to a defeat in matchday seven of the French Ligue 1 campaign.
Amid an injury crisis, AS Monaco have received a rare boost, following the return of the 23-year-old after illness.
Akliouche has been outstanding for Monaco in the current campaign, racking up six appearances, scoring two goals and delivering an assist across competitions.
Monaco are in a serious injury crisis this season, with captain Denis Zakaria being ruled out for two months as well Aladji Bamba.
The attacker has been in the books of Monaco since 2022, with his current contract expected to expire in the summer of 2028.
Akliouche attracted interest from several top clubs in Europe after exhibiting a top-class performance last term, but the move fell through due to Monaco’s demands.
Despite being eligible to represent Algeria at the international level, Akliouche opted to play for the France national team, making his debut in the September international.
