Tunisian Ligue 1: Stade Tunisien seize top spot keep pace
The postponed fixtures from matchday seven of the Tunisian Ligue 1 delivered significant shifts at the top of the table on Wednesday, with Stade Tunisien moving clear at the summit while Espérance Sportive de Tunis, US Monastir and Étoile Sportive du Sahel all secured vital wins.
At home to AS Marsa, Stade Tunisien needed just six minutes to find the breakthrough.
Aziz Saihi struck decisively early on, and although the hosts created few further chances, their defensive discipline ensured a 1-0 win.
The result lifts Stade Tunisien to 17 points, edging past Espérance de Zarzis by a single point to claim first place.
AS Marsa, however, remain languishing in 12th with seven points, their struggles leaving them uncomfortably close to the relegation zone.
Espérance rise with assured win
In Radès, Espérance Sportive de Tunis demonstrated their authority with a composed display against Olympique de Béja.
Chiheb Jebali opened the scoring in the eighth minute to set the tone, before Florian Danho, a recent signing, doubled the advantage six minutes from time to seal a 2-0 victory.
The win moves Espérance into third place with 14 points, reaffirming their ambitions after a shaky start to the campaign.
For Béja, the defeat deepens an ongoing crisis, leaving them rooted to the bottom with just two points from seven games.
Monastir edge past Bizertin
US Monastirienne also collected maximum points, though their 1-0 victory over Club Athlétique Bizertin was anything but straightforward.
A missed penalty from Aymen Harzi and two efforts striking the woodwork left supporters anxious, before Ibrahim Gadiaga finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute.
The win pushes Monastir level with Club Africain on 13 points in fourth, while Bizertin remain stuck in 10th place on eight points, hindered by inconsistency.
Étoile du Sahel show signs of revival
Étoile Sportive du Sahel, searching for momentum after a disappointing start to the season, found their rhythm with a 2-0 away win at AS Soliman.
Moussa Senghor struck in the fourth minute, and Raki Aouani added a second midway through the second half.
Despite Rayane Anane missing a penalty, the visitors were aided by an early red card for Yassine Kasseh in the 11th minute, which left Soliman exposed.
The victory moves Étoile to ninth with eight points, while Soliman remain entrenched in 13th with four points.
