Andre Onana gradually picking up form at new club Trabzonspor
Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana is gradually getting back to his best at his new club, Trabzonspor.
The former Ajax shot-stopper was in action for the club on Saturday, providing a key assist for the side in their 1-1 draw against Gaziantep in the Turkish Super Lig.
On his debut, Onana was named Man of the Match after producing a series of brilliant saves that kept Trabzonspor in contention.
Any questions about whether he could adapt swiftly to the Süper Lig were firmly put to rest during his second appearance.
With Trabzonspor pushing for an equaliser, Onana displayed his vision and passing range rarely seen from a goalkeeper. Spotting Paul Onuachu’s clever run, he launched a pinpoint 60-yard ball over Gaziantep’s defence.
Onuachu latched onto it and finished with authority, sending the home fans into raptures.
The moment not only rescued a point for Trabzonspor but also highlighted Onana’s unique ability to influence games beyond his shot-stopping.
Supporters have already begun to hail him as more than just a safe pair of hands, but someone who is proving to be a difference-maker with his distribution and commanding presence.
Barely two games in, and Onana has already captured the hearts of the Trabzonspor faithful, quickly becoming a cult hero at the club.
