Pyramids grind out narrow win against Zed to keep league chase alive

Pyramids FC had to battle hard on Thursday night as they edged ZED 1-0 at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, keeping their push in the Egyptian Premier League alive.

The game was cagey, with both sides working hard to find openings. The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when Mustafa Abdel Raouf Zico struck against his former club, sealing the win for Pyramids. The goal brought relief to the home fans after a tense evening filled with midfield battles and missed chances.

ZED’s frustration spilled over when head coach Mohamed Shawky was sent off for protesting refereeing decisions, leaving his side without leadership from the bench. Adding to the drama, Pyramids defender Ahmed Sami received his third yellow card, ruling him out of their next fixture against Tala’ea El-Gaish.

The result pushed Pyramids to 11 points and into third place on the table, while ZED stayed on 9 points in ninth.

Elsewhere, newcomers Ismailia Electricity celebrated a historic first league victory after Mohamed El-Sayed Sheika netted in the 71st minute to secure a 1-0 win over Al-Ittihad Alexandria.
