Al Ahly are heading into their next Egyptian Premier League challenge against Ceramica Cleopatra with heavy hearts and a thinner squad than expected.

The Cairo giants, who have struggled for form this season, will miss five important players when they step onto the pitch tomorrow evening in the seventh round of the league.

Interim coach Emad El Nahhas has been handed one of the toughest starts of his coaching spell. He is not only dealing with fading confidence after a poor run of results but also with painful absences in key areas of the field.

The injured group includes Mohamed Shukry, Karim Fouad, Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, Imam Ashour, and Ashraf Dari. A source told Kooora that defender Yasser Ibrahim returned to training, but his availability will only be confirmed after the final session today before the team enters a closed camp.

“Emam Ashour needs three weeks before he can participate in training due to his infection with Hepatitis A, while Zizo is suffering from a severe strain in his adductor muscle and will also be out for three weeks,” he added.

Al Ahly currently sit 16th with six points from five matches.
