Cameroonian striker Kevin Soni in advanced talks with Paris 13 Atletico

Cameroonian international Kevin Soni is edging closer to a return to French football, eight years after first leaving Bordeaux.

The 27-year-old forward is in advanced negotiations with Paris 13 Atletico, with a deal reportedly close to completion.

Soni, who parted ways with Serbian side Železničar Pančevo at the end of last season, has been a free agent throughout the summer.

The striker and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract in June after just six months, leaving him free to explore new opportunities.

Since then, the forward has been actively seeking a new challenge, and Paris 13 Atletico have moved quickly to secure his services.

Talks between the player and the Paris-based club began several days ago and are said to have progressed rapidly.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that an agreement could soon be finalised, with only minor details remaining before the transfer is confirmed.

Should the deal go through, Soni will return to the Championnat National, France’s third division, where Paris 13 Atletico – also known as the Gobelins – currently compete.

For Soni, the move would mark a return to familiar territory. The Douala-born striker began his professional journey in France with Bordeaux but has since built a career across several European leagues.

His footballing journey has taken him to Spain, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Israel and most recently Serbia, where his time with Železničar Pančevo was brief. During his stint there, he made 10 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

Despite the limited impact in Serbia, Soni remains a player with proven versatility and experience. Over the years, he has featured for clubs such as Pau FC in France, as well as stints in La Liga and other competitive leagues across Europe.

His ability to adapt to different environments has kept him in demand, and Paris 13 Atletico now see him as a valuable addition to strengthen their attack.

The club’s interest aligns with their ambitions to consolidate their position in the Championnat National and build a squad capable of competing at the top end of the division.

Soni’s arrival would add both experience and depth, offering coach David Linarès an additional option in the final third.

At 27, Soni is at a stage of his career where consistency and stability will be key. The forward’s past experiences across multiple countries have given him exposure to different styles of play, and returning to France could provide the platform he needs to re-establish himself.

According to figures on Transfermarkt, Soni’s current market value is estimated at €400,000. For a club like Paris 13 Atletico, securing a player of his calibre without a transfer fee represents an opportunity they are keen not to miss.

Unless negotiations break down at the final hurdle, all indications suggest that Kevin Soni is set to make the French capital his new home, ending months of uncertainty about his future.

For the Cameroonian, the potential move could mark the beginning of a new chapter – one that brings him back to where his professional story first began.
