Swiss-Congolese midfielder Denis Zakaria ruled out of AS Monaco’s clash against Club Brugge
Switzerland international of DR Congo descent Denis Zakaria has been ruled out of AS Monaco’s UEFA Champions League clash against Club Brugge.
In a high-stake clash on Thursday evening, the Belgium outfit will play host to Monaco, with both teams yearning for victory to begin the campaign on a good note.
However, the French Ligue 1 giants has been dealt with a massive blow as captain Denis Zakaria has been ruled out of the match due to an injury setback.
The former Chelsea midfielder suffered an adductor injury in training, making him unavailable for the crucial game. Meanwhile, he is expected to miss several weeks of action, although he must undergo further tests before an exact timeframe can be put on his return.
Zakaria joins Mohammed Salisu, Aleksandr Golovin, and Lukas Hradecky on the sidelines as Monaco gear up for the Champions League campaign.
In Zakaria’s absence, the Principality club will be relying on the young duo of Lamine Camara and Aladji Bamba.
The 28-year-old midfielder has made four appearances in the French Ligue 1 this season for Monaco, delivering an assist across the period.
