Al Ahly clears the air on Ahmed Mostafa Zizo as struggles deepen in league
Al Ahly has moved quickly to set the record straight about Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, one of the team’s most trusted stars, as the Red Devils continue to fight through a difficult season.
Walid Salah El-Din, the club’s football director, explained that Zizo has not asked to travel abroad for treatment after picking up an injury in the recent 1-1 draw with Enppi.
“What was reported in the media regarding this matter is completely false and has never happened, not even remotely,” Salah El-Din told the club’s official website.
Rumors had spread that the winger wanted to rehabilitate overseas following a second-degree adductor strain that forced him off in the first half against Enppi. His absence has added to the club’s worries in a campaign that has been anything but smooth.
The record champions will try to bounce back when they meet Ceramica Cleopatra on Friday in the seventh round. Yet with Al Ahly sitting fifteenth in the table on just six points, and only one win in five matches, pressure is mounting for a quick turnaround.
