Emam Ashour’s injury rules him out of Zamalek clash
Al Ahly will head into their long-awaited clash with Zamalek without one of their brightest stars, as midfielder Emam Ashour faces another unexpected spell on the sidelines.
Ashour only recently returned to the pitch after recovering from a broken collarbone suffered during the Club World Cup. His comeback in the league against Enppi had raised hopes among fans that he was finally ready to shine again. But those hopes were dashed when the player was rushed to hospital after suffering a sudden health problem.
Tests confirmed he has been infected with the Hepatitis A virus. Team doctor Dr. Ahmed Gaballah explained that the midfielder’s condition is stable and that his stay in hospital is mainly for reassurance while doctors outline a treatment program.
“Precautionary measures were taken yesterday before Imam’s test results were released. All players and the technical staff underwent comprehensive tests, and the results were reassuring,” he said.
Accordong to Kooora, Ashour will be out until at least the end of the month, ruling him out of the September 29 league clash against Zamalek.
