Kawkab Marrakech head coach Rachid Taoussi insists his side did not deserve defeat in their clash with Wydad Athletic Club on Friday.

The newly promoted side suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at the Stade Mohammed V, but Taoussi believes his players’ performance merited at least a share of the points.

“We faced a big club with a record attendance of fans, and we are only just back in the top flight. Despite that, we played a perfect match and deserved at least a draw,” Taoussi told Kooora.

“I won’t dwell on this result because it’s a closed chapter now. What matters to me is the group I have—an amazing squad that will prove itself against the biggest teams. The season is still in its early stages, and patience will be key.”

Striker Khalid Boutaib, who made his debut for Kawkab in the game, also expressed his delight at featuring in front of such a vibrant atmosphere.

“It’s a real pleasure to play in this environment, in front of such a large crowd,” the former Morocco international said.

“It confirmed to me that I made the right choice in joining the Moroccan league for the first time. This kind of atmosphere motivates us to work harder.”

Boutaib also praised the growing competitiveness of Moroccan football, noting its ability to attract top talent.

“I hope to make the contribution that the Marrakech supporters, who love their club dearly, expect from me,” he added.

Kawkab Marrakech will be aiming for their first win of the season when they host RS Berkane on Tuesday, September 16, at the Stade El Harti.
