Ismaily goalkeeper Ahmed Adel Abdel-Moneim calls for change and praises Al Ahly
Ismaily goalkeeper Ahmed Adel Abdel Moneim has voiced his frustration over the team’s struggles this season while also showing respect for his former club Al Ahly.
The veteran shot-stopper believes Ismaily’s current crisis is rooted in poor decisions made in the past and insists long-term planning is the only way forward.
Abdel Moneim said in radio statements that his team has a distinguished coach, Algerian Miloud Hamdi, but that he lacks experienced players and relies on emerging players, which makes the task difficult.
“We performed exceptionally well in the first few rounds, and achieved victory over Tala’ea El-Geish away from home. However, circumstances did not serve us against Ghazl El-Mahalla, and we lost by three goals,” he said.
The goalkeeper also criticized former president Yehia El-Komy for expensive signings that left the club in financial turmoil. He stressed that fixing problems, investing in strong players, and building for the long term are key to bringing back success.
Abdel Moneim expressed pride in his Al Ahly past, highlighting the professionalism and support he experienced at the Red Castle compared to the challenges facing other clubs.
