Ibrahim Hassan determined to rewrite Egypt’s World Cup story
Ibrahim Hassan believes Egypt deserves more than its modest World Cup history.
The Egyptian national team manager spoke with passion after the Pharaohs were held to a goalless draw away to Burkina Faso in the eighth round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers. His dream, shared with his twin brother and head coach Hossam Hassan, is to guide Egypt back to the world stage and surpass the record he feels is unworthy of the nation’s stature.
“We qualified for the World Cup as players, and we look forward to repeating that achievement under the leadership of the technical staff,” Hassan said in televised remarks on Tuesday. “We are working hard, giving it our all, and we love Egypt to the fullest extent.”
He noted that Egypt, a team with continental dominance, has only three World Cup appearances. For him, that does not reflect the country’s footballing power.
Looking ahead, Hassan underlined the importance of the next qualifier against Djibouti. He urged fans to rally behind the team at Cairo Stadium, promising better days and a united push for qualification.
