Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush suffers injury setback in World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso
Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush has suffered an injury setback while in action for Egypt in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Marmoush, who joined the Premier League giants during the January transfer window was forced off with an injury after just 10 minutes into the high-stale clash between Egypt and Burkina Faso.
The former Frankfurt attacker was replaced by enterprising young forward Osama Faisal as the Pharaohs held Burkina Faso to a pulsating goalless draw on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite creating goalscoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net as the game ended in a draw.
Having suffered an injury, the talented attacker is expected to undergo surgery to determine the extent of the injury.
Egypt currently sit top of Group A after eight matches into the qualification series, accumulating 20 points.
The Pharaohs return to action on October for the remaining two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
