Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare has urged his Super Eagles teammates to keep pushing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following their important 1-0 victory against Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday.

Despite picking the crucial three points, Tolu believes the job is not done.

The forward scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, a strike that kept Nigeria’s hopes alive in Group C.

Following the match, Arokodare took to his official X handle to share his delight but cautioned that the team must not lose sight of the bigger goal.

“Three points! We keep pushing, job’s not finished,” he posted.

The win moved Nigeria to 10 points, leaving them third in the group, six points adrift of leaders South Africa. However, the standings may yet be reshaped, with FIFA expected to make a ruling on South Africa’s alleged use of an ineligible player, a development that could see Bafana Bafana docked points and goals.

Elsewhere in Group C, Benin Republic climbed into second place after edging Zimbabwe 1-0 in Abidjan. The Cheetahs will host Nigeria on the final day of the qualifiers on October 14, a match that could prove decisive in the group’s outcome.

The Super Eagles’ triumph over Rwanda followed a tense contest, while South Africa strengthened their grip on top spot with a convincing 3-0 win against Lesotho on Friday. Nigeria now faces a daunting test in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, where they will battle Bafana Bafana in freezing conditions.

With three matches remaining and possible twists still ahead, Arokodare’s strike may have reignited Nigeria’s push to secure a place at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
