Al Ahly boosts coaching budget to attract top foreign manager
Al Ahly’s leadership has taken a bold step to secure a new foreign coach, increasing the budget to ensure the club brings in the right man after parting ways with Spaniard Jose Riveiro.
The decision reflects the determination of president Mahmoud El Khatib and his team to give fans renewed hope following a rough start to the season.
According to Kooora, El Khatib told the planning committee during a meeting on the North Coast that the football company will now contribute 30 percent of the new coach’s contract, allowing more freedom during talks.
“Al-Khatib informed the planning committee that the club’s football company contributes up to 30% of the value of the new coach’s contract, and therefore there is great flexibility in negotiations,” a club source told Kooora.
The source added that the former $3 million annual cap will be lifted to $4 million.
Ribeiro left after a 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC. During his short spell, Al Ahly earned only five points from four league matches.
The planning committee has appointed an interim staff to guide the team until the new coach is signed.
