Spartak Moscow in talks to sign Cameroonian defender Christopher Wooh
Russia Premier League side Spartak Moscow are in talks with French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais FC to secure the signing of Cameroonian defender Christopher Wooh.
According to Le Parisien, Rennes could see Wooh become the 25th departure of the summer, as discussions with Spartak progress.
The 23-year-old centre-back, who joined Rennes from RC Lens in 2022 for €10 million, has entered the final year of his contract and is said to be seriously considering the Russian club’s proposal, with a decision expected soon.
Wooh featured 21 times for Rennes in all competitions last season but saw his game time diminish under midseason managerial appointment Habib Beye.
Although he started Beye’s first six matches in charge, a two-game suspension pushed him down the pecking order, and he made only two further substitute appearances afterwards.
This season, Wooh has played twice, coming on as a substitute in Rennes’ opening-day victory over Olympique de Marseille, before starting against FC Lorient, where he was sent off just 11 minutes into the match.
