Achraf Dari faces fresh setback with injury during Al Ahly clash with Pyramids
Achraf Dari’s long-awaited return to Morocco’s national team could be in danger after the defender suffered an injury while playing for Al Ahly against Pyramids FC on Saturday in the Egyptian Premier League.
The center-back was forced off in the first half after feeling pain in his adductor muscle. Medical staff quickly decided he could not continue, and coach Marcel Koller replaced him with Mustafa Al-Ash in the 35th minute.
The timing of the setback is difficult for both club and country. Morocco coach Walid Regragui had only just recalled Dari to the Atlas Lions squad for the September training camp and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. His availability now hangs in the balance.
According to Al Ahly medical staff, further tests will determine the seriousness of the injury. Supporters of both sides are worried, as the Egyptian champions face a crowded schedule and Morocco prepares for crucial fixtures.
In the match itself, Pyramids struck first through Walid El Karti in the fifth minute. Former Al Ahly defender Mohamed Abdel Moneim, now with Nice, was present in the stands to show his support.
