Al Ahly has moved quickly to calm its supporters after whispers of a coaching change filled Egyptian football circles.

The club assured fans that talk of bringing back South African coach Pitso Mosimane is without foundation.

A source from inside the Cairo giants told Kooora that the reports are false. “Mosimane’s page has been closed. He is a very great coach, but Al-Ahly has complete confidence in Jose Riveiro, the current coach,” the source said.

He further explained, “We have not negotiated with any coach or requested nominations because we have complete confidence in Riveiro, and we are not responsible for what is being said by coaching agents.”

The rumors surfaced as Al Ahly has made a slow start to the domestic campaign. The reigning champions have gathered only 5 points in their opening 3 league matches, with just one win in 6 official games under Riveiro’s watch.

Despite the shaky run, the message from Al Ahly is clear. The club is standing behind its Spanish coach, showing trust that he can guide the team back on track.
