Stade Tunisien climbed into third place in the Tunisian Ligue 1 standings after a 2-0 victory over ES Métlaoui, while US Monastir were frustrated in a goalless draw against AS Marsa.
The weekend also saw Olympique Béja and JS Kairouanaise share the points in another scoreless encounter, and the fixture between Club Athlétique Bizertin and Club Africain abandoned following crowd trouble.
At the Bardo, Stade Tunisien made the most of their home advantage to secure a convincing win.
Amado Ndiaye broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, finishing off a well-worked move to hand the hosts control of the contest.
Eight minutes into the second half, Wael Ouerghemmi doubled the lead with a composed strike, sealing the points and lifting the club to third place in the table with eight points from four matches.
The result fuels hopes among supporters that their side could mount a serious challenge in the weeks to come.
Elsewhere, US Monastir were unable to make their dominance count in a frustrating 0-0 draw with AS Marsa.
Despite controlling large parts of the match, Monastir lacked sharpness in front of goal, failing to convert possession into clear scoring opportunities.
Marsa, disciplined and compact in their defensive shape, frustrated their opponents to claim a point.
The draw does little for either side, with Monastir missing the chance to strengthen their position at the top and Marsa left treading water in mid-table.
In Béja, Olympique Béja and JS Kairouanaise also played out a dull stalemate.
Chances were scarce and both teams struggled to impose themselves in a contest that ended without goals.
With only four games played, concerns are already mounting over the lack of cutting edge shown by both sides, who will need to improve quickly to avoid slipping into relegation trouble.
The most dramatic scenes of the round came in Bizerte, where the clash between Club Athlétique Bizertin and Club Africain was abandoned early in the second half.
Club Africain had taken the lead through Firas Chawat in the 47th minute, but the game was halted just three minutes later after assistant referee Marouane Saad was struck on the head by an object thrown from the stands.
The incident brought an abrupt end to the fixture, casting a shadow over the competition and leaving the outcome to be decided by the football authorities.
