Swedish-Eritrean striker Alexander Isak stance leaves Newcastle eyeing Juventus’ Vlahovic

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, who continues to push for a move away from St James’ Park.

The Serbian international has been raised as a solution for the Magpies, with Juventus open to parting ways for around €30 million.

Isak, who is of Eritrean heritage but represents Sweden internationally, has made it clear he will not play for Newcastle again after going on strike earlier this month.

His determination to secure a switch to Liverpool has complicated Eddie Howe’s plans for the new season, leaving the club short of attacking options.

Adding a new striker has become a priority for Newcastle, particularly after failed pursuits of Hugo Ekitike, who signed for Liverpool, and Benjamin Sesko, who joined Manchester United earlier this summer.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Juventus offered Vlahovic to Newcastle after securing Jonathan David, viewing the move as a way to ease their wage bill.

Despite the opportunity, Newcastle are not believed to have serious interest in Vlahovic. Reports suggest the club have shown little enthusiasm in pursuing the Serbian, indicating he is not on their shortlist of alternatives to Isak.

Negotiations over a new contract with Juventus for Vlahovic have stalled, leaving the Italian club keen to explore exit routes before losing him for free in the future.

Newcastle’s recruitment team are instead focused on other targets. Brentford forward Yoane Wissa remains high on the agenda, while Wolves striker Jorgen Strand-Larsen is another option, though Wolves have so far resisted all approaches.

With the transfer window entering its final week, Newcastle face mounting pressure to resolve their striking situation amid the uncertainty surrounding Isak’s future.
