Malian midfielder Adama Traoré Malouda seals move to Gençlerbirliği from Ferencváros

Adama Traoré Malouda has left Ferencváros to join Turkish side Gençlerbirliği on a two-year contract with an additional option, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Mali international immediately linked up with his new teammates as preparations intensify for the third round of the Turkish Super League.

After three successful seasons in Hungary, Traoré departs Ferencváros with an impressive record of 117 appearances and 40 goals across all competitions.

His final campaign saw him feature in 45 matches, contributing eight goals and four assists, underlining his consistent influence in the attacking third.

The midfielder, who began his professional journey at KO Bamako, has travelled a well-worn path across multiple leagues before arriving in Turkey.

His career has taken him to Congolese giants TP Mazembe, French sides Metz and Orléans, Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Adalah, Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol, and most recently Ferencváros, where he became a key figure in their domestic dominance.

Gençlerbirliği highlighted the significance of the signing in their official announcement, welcoming the Malian international as part of their ongoing squad strengthening. “Gençlerbirliği continues to reinforce the team with new arrivals.

The Reds have secured the services of winger Adama Traoré, who previously played for Ferencváros in Hungary. (…) We extend our warm welcome to Adama Traoré and wish him success in the red and black shirt,” the club stated.

Traoré wasted no time in beginning his new chapter. Shortly after signing his contract, he joined his first training session at the Bestepe Ilhan Cavcav Sports Complex under head coach Hüseyin Eroglu.

His integration into the group comes ahead of the side’s upcoming clash against Gaziantep FK, where supporters may soon catch a glimpse of their latest acquisition.

The move represents a fresh challenge for the Malian, who has built a career defined by adaptability and effectiveness in different football environments. At Ferencváros, his creativity and direct play made him a pivotal contributor to the club’s domestic and European campaigns.

His experience, spanning Africa, Western Europe, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, now adds further depth to Gençlerbirliği’s ambitions in Turkey’s top flight.

For Traoré, the switch to Turkey marks another milestone in a career that has steadily grown in stature. Having showcased his abilities in Hungary with both goals and assists, he now arrives in Ankara with a reputation as a reliable and versatile midfielder capable of impacting matches at the highest level.

As Gençlerbirliği prepares for a challenging season, the addition of Traoré is viewed as both a strategic reinforcement and a statement of intent. With his contract running until 2027 if the optional year is activated, the Malian international has an opportunity to establish himself as a central figure in the club’s ambitions for stability and progression in the Super League.
