Franco-Ivorian defender Ismael Doukouré is set to sign a new contract with French Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
The 22-year-old joined Strasbourg in January 2022, with his current contract expected to elapse in next summer transfer window.
According to reports, Strasbourg have reached an agreement with the centre-back over contract extension at the club.
For the second summer running, Doukouré’s future has been a contentious topic. The France youth international wanted to leave last summer, but was retained by the club, with the BlueCo hierarchy actively blocking a departure.
With just one year now remaining on his deal, Doukouré had, thus far, rejected attempts to extend his deal, prompting decision to relegate him to the reserve team.
Meanwhile, the midfielder was not involved in Strasbourg’s Ligue 1 opener against FC Metz. Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior, who is the manager of Lille set up a deadline for Doukouré to respond to a contract extension offer was made and a response was not given in time.
Rosenior left the door open for Doukouré to stay and return to the first-team fold. That now looks set to happen. He is set to sign a deal that will run until 2028.
