Galatasaray close to securing Ivorian international Wilfried Singo from Monaco in €30m deal

Galatasaray have reached an agreement in principle with AS Monaco for the transfer of Ivorian international defender Wilfried Singo, according to reports.

The 24-year-old, who came through the ranks at AS Denguélé d’Odienné in Ivory Coast before developing further at Torino, is expected to travel to Turkey on Tuesday for a medical and to complete the final details of the move.

The deal is structured as a €5 million loan with a mandatory purchase clause, which will bring the total fee to €30 million.

Once confirmed, Singo will sign a long-term contract with the Turkish champions, keeping him at the club until 2030.

Former Ivorian international N’Dri Koffi Romaric welcomed the news, suggesting Singo’s next step will be crucial. Singo will have the choice, he said, underlining the defender’s importance to both club and country.

For Galatasaray, the signing would be a significant reinforcement as they aim to strengthen their back line ahead of the new season.

The club has been active in the market this summer, determined to bolster its defensive stability while competing on multiple fronts.

Singo joined Monaco in 2023 after four successful years at Torino, where he built a reputation as a versatile right-back capable of also playing in central defence.

Since moving to Ligue 1, he has continued his upward trajectory, becoming a regular in Monaco’s first team and earning further recognition on the international stage with Ivory Coast.

His pace, athleticism and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively have made him a highly sought-after player, with Galatasaray moving quickly to secure his services before the close of the transfer window.

While negotiations near completion, Monaco continue their Ligue 1 campaign with a fixture against Lille in the coming days.

The move, however, signals that Singo’s future lies away from the Principality as the French club look to reshape their squad.

If finalised, the transfer will place Singo among the most expensive Ivorian defenders of all time, reflecting both his potential and the faith Galatasaray are placing in his ability to anchor their defence for years to come.

For now, the Turkish side and their supporters await Tuesday’s medical, which is expected to seal one of the standout deals of the summer.
