Angola international defender Clinton Mata has committed his future to French giants Olympique Lyon by signing a new deal at the club.
Lyon appears to have placed great trust in the 32-year-old centre-back, extending his contract until summer 2028. Mata had entered his final contract year, with the French outfit acting swiftly to renew his deal.
The former KAS Eupen youth product was one of the most dependable defenders at Lyon last season and he has been rewarded accordingly.
Mata joined Lyon from Club Brugge two years ago over a €5m deal, making 73 appearances for the club, serving three assists across the period.
Following the arrival of Casa Pia centre-back Ruben Kluivert this summer, the Angola international is expected to battle it out for a starting role next season.
With his wealth of experience, he is expected to contribute significantly towards the success of the club.
Clinton Mata has made 12 appearances for the Angola national team, since making his debut in 2014.
