Ivory Coast defender Clément Akpa has emerged as a transfer target for German Bundesliga outfit, Eintracht Frankfurt in the current window.
The 23-year centre-back impressed in the French Ligue 1 for AJ Auxerre last season, attracting interest several interest across Europe. The centre-back was an ever-present under Christophe Pélissier during the season.
His performances in France earned him a place in the Ivory Coast national team and has made two appearances for the West African giants.
Despite maintaining their Ligue 1 status, Auxerre have lost top players heading into the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign.
Hamed Junior Traoré has returned to parent club Bournemouth, whilst Gaëtan Perrin has made a move to the Russian top-flight, with Akpa set to become the next player to depart the club.
Frankfurt, who last season finished third in the Bundesliga, have made an enquiry about the defender with a view to a potential move.
The German side have turned to Akpa due to difficulties in the deal to sign Ko Itakura from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Ivorian’s contract at Auxerre runs until the summer of 2027.
