Torreense launches bid for Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Hassan Fofana
Portuguese second-tier side SC União Torreense have submitted an initial offer for Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Hassan Fofana, currently on loan at Dinamo Batumi from Turkish club İstanbul Başakşehir FK.
The 20-year-old has caught the attention of several clubs following an impressive start to the season with the Georgian league leaders.
Fofana, who joined Dinamo Batumi on a loan deal running until December 2025, has established himself as a key figure in the heart of midfield, playing a pivotal role in the club’s campaign at the top of the Erovnuli Liga table.
Torreense, seeking to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, have expressed strong interest in the young talent and are eager to bring him to Portugal.
The club has already made its intentions clear with a formal offer directed toward the player.
Despite Torreense’s ambition, negotiations are expected to prove difficult. Dinamo Batumi are reportedly reluctant to release the midfielder mid-season, citing his importance to their domestic title challenge.
Club officials have indicated that Fofana is considered an integral part of the team’s tactical setup and view his early departure as potentially disruptive.
Complicating the situation further is Fofana’s contractual status. The Ivorian remains under contract with parent club İstanbul Başakşehir FK until June 2026.
Any potential deal would require negotiations not only with Dinamo Batumi but also with the Turkish Super Lig outfit, which holds his registration rights.
Torreense, however, are not ruling out future attempts to secure Fofana’s signature. Should their summer pursuit fall short, sources close to the matter suggest the club could return with a renewed approach during the January transfer window.
The winter period, which often sees more fluid player movement, may present a more favourable opportunity for the Portuguese club to finalise the transfer.
Fofana, who began his professional journey with Cypriot side Gençlik Gücü, has seen his profile rise steadily across European leagues.
Known for his work rate, passing range, and tactical intelligence, the midfielder’s performances this season have made him a standout figure in Georgia’s top flight.
According to data from Transfermarkt, Fofana’s current market valuation stands at €50,000 — a figure that, while modest, could rise swiftly if he continues on his current trajectory. His age and potential make him an attractive target for clubs looking to invest in developing talent.
As it stands, Torreense’s offer remains under consideration, though all parties acknowledge the challenges involved in brokering a mid-season release.
For now, Dinamo Batumi appear intent on keeping their star loanee for the remainder of the campaign, with any move likely to be revisited in the next window.
Fofana’s future remains the subject of speculation, but his growing influence at Dinamo Batumi ensures that any departure, whether now or in January, will come with considerable negotiation.
