Mali international Boubacar Traoré is on the verge of joining French Ligue 1outfit FC Metz in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Following an agreement between Wolves and FC Metz, the 23-year-old midfielder is expected to complete a loan switch to the French outfit this summer in the coming days.

Metz, who secured a return to the French top-flight are keen on bolstering their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign as the club seeks to make a meaningful impact.

Traoré is returning to Metz, having departed the club to join the Premier League club in 2022. Before leaving for England, the Malian international made 33 appearances for the French club.

The midfielder initially joined Wolves on loan in 2022 before making the deal permanent for a transfer fee worth €11m.

Traoré remains tied with Wolves over a contract set to expire in 2028. Unfortunately, Traoré’s past Premier League season has been blighted by a serious meniscus injury. He only featured three times for Wolves last season. The Premier League side will cover part of Traoré’s wages as he set to join Metz.

The French club and Wolverhampton Wanderers have both reached an agreement in principle over Traoré’s loan move, but minor details still need ironing out before the Premier League side allows the midfielder to return to France.
