Guinea international Ibrahima Camara Koeman eyes European ambitions after Radomiak Radom move
Guinea international Ibrahima Camara, widely known as Koeman, has officially joined Polish top-flight club Radomiak Radom, signing a two-year contract with the Ekstraklasa side.
The move marks a fresh chapter for the midfielder, who is eager to revitalize his career after a difficult spell in Portugal with Boavista.
The 25-year-old opened up about his decision to join Radomiak and the reasons behind his choice.
After a January transfer fell through due to Boavista’s reluctance to let him go, Koeman says he remained impressed by Radomiak’s persistence and long-term vision.
I was supposed to leave Boavista in January, but it didn’t happen. Radomiak already wanted me back then, but the Portuguese club refused, he revealed. Radomiak’s current coach, who was also my coach at Moreirense, approached me again. I accepted because the sporting project they presented to me is really exciting. I hope we achieve our goals this season, because the club has invested a lot.
Koeman, who clocked 1,336 minutes of playing time in the Portuguese top division last season, now sets his sights on helping Radomiak make a strong push in the Ekstraklasa and compete for a spot in European competitions.
With Radomiak’s management backing an ambitious project, the midfielder is confident the team can rise to the challenge.
I joined a club with great ambitions. The upcoming season is crucial: the objective is simple—to secure a place in Europe. It’s our shared goal, he stated.
The Syli National player had no shortage of suitors ahead of his move to Poland.
Turkish sides Eyüpspor and Samsunspor, along with Czech outfit Viktoria Plzeň, were reportedly keen on signing him.
However, Koeman ultimately felt that Radomiak’s plans aligned more closely with his personal aspirations.
When I decided to leave Boavista, several European clubs contacted me. My entourage and I studied each offer: Eyüpspor, Plzeň, Samsunspor… they were all interested. But in the end, it was Radomiak’s project that convinced us the most, he said.
Now officially part of Radomiak Radom, Koeman is ready to bring his tenacity and experience to the Polish league and help guide the club toward its European dreams.
