‘I will always love Juventus’ – French-Guinean midfielder Paul Pogba after joining Monaco

Paul Pogba says he will always have love for Juventus despite a difficult end to his second spell in Turin, as he begins a new chapter in his career with AS Monaco.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who is of Guinean descent but represents France at international level, signed a two-year deal with Monaco last week after being released by Juventus in November 2024.

The move comes after a turbulent period marked by injuries and an 18-month doping suspension, reduced on appeal from an initial four-year ban handed down in October 2024.

Speaking at his unveiling press conference in Monaco, Pogba adopted a conciliatory tone about his time at Juventus, despite earlier criticism of the club’s handling of his case.

“I always loved and always will love Juventus. This club helped me become what I am today,” he said. “Some people have their own way of doing things. There were some things I liked, others that I did not.”

Pogba revealed that former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and club legend Giorgio Chiellini were among the few figures who showed him consistent support during the ordeal.

“Agnelli sent me messages and would call me up. This is called support,” Pogba said. “Chiellini, who arrived later, also sent me messages.”

The former Manchester United star is now focused on reviving his career in Ligue 1.

“I said a year ago that I was not dead. Now I am thinking about the future and not the past,” he added.
