Belgian tactician Yannick Ferrera has touched down in Cairo, Egypt, ahead of his appointment as head coach of Zamalek SC.
Ferreira is set to meet with Zamalek’s sporting director, John Edward, and the club’s board to finalise the terms of his contract before an official announcement is made.
The club has already reached an agreement with the 43-year-old to take charge of the team on a two-year deal.
He will succeed interim coach Ayman El Ramadi, who stepped in during the closing stages of the previous season following the departure of Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro. Peseiro’s contract was terminated by mutual consent after a string of disappointing results.
Ferreira brings with him considerable experience, particularly in the Arab football scene.
He previously managed Saudi Pro League side Al-Fateh for three seasons and had a brief stint with Al-Riyadh. Most recently, he was in charge of Belgian side Racing White Daring Molenbeek, a role he left just two months ago.
The official announcement of the appointment is expected to be made before the close of this week.
