Congolese forward Nathanaël Mbuku on the verge of joining French outfit Montpellier HSC
Congolese forward Nathanaël Mbuku is set to complete a move to French side Montpellier HSC.
According to information gathered from a close source, the youngster will sign a season-long loan to play for the French Ligue 2 side next season.
The forward played for Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb in the 2024/25 football season. In Croatia, he scored two goals after making 20 appearances for the Zagreb-based side in all competitions.
Early this summer, FC Augsburg activated a buy-back clause in his contract to bring him back to Germany.
While the club has plans for the attacker, they have decided that he will need to go out on loan to play regularly to continue his development.
Nathanaël Mbuku is now close to signing for Montpellier, where he will play a key role for the team next season in their quest for promotion to Ligue 1.
Information gathered indicates that the deal will include a €1.8m option to buy.
Augsburg will be monitoring the striker closely to ascertain whether he will be a good fit for the side next season.
If he impresses at Montpellier, the German outfit is likely to include him in their plans for the following season.
