Cameroonian forward Saidou Alioum is on the verge of joining Swedish side IFK Gothenburg, following a strong season on loan at Omonia Nicosia.
Despite being contracted to Hammarby IF until December 2026, the 21-year-old is now preparing for a permanent move away from the club.
Talks between Hammarby and IFK Gothenburg have reportedly reached an advanced stage, with all parties confident that the deal will be finalised imminently.
Alioum’s representative confirmed the progress of negotiations, stating: Talks are in their final stages. The player has agreed to join Gothenburg, and the deal is sealed. The official announcement should be imminent. The contract is for three seasons, with an optional one.
During the 2024/25 campaign, the young striker made a significant impression at Omonia Nicosia, scoring 11 goals and registering four assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
His performances attracted attention from several clubs, including Omonia themselves, who were previously thought to be considering exercising their option to buy.
However, Alioum has chosen to remain in Scandinavia and is now set for a new challenge with IFK Gothenburg.
For the Swedish club, securing the services of a young, dynamic forward represents a statement of intent as they look to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
Valued at approximately €700,000, Alioum brings pace, creativity and a keen eye for goal.
Although he struggled to find consistent form during his time at Hammarby, his recent exploits in Cyprus suggest he is ready to thrive at a higher level.
The move could prove to be a pivotal step in the Cameroonian’s career, offering both a fresh start and the chance to establish himself in the Allsvenskan.
A three-year contract with an option for a fourth year signals Gothenburg’s faith in his potential and long-term contribution.
As the deal approaches its finalisation, Alioum looks set to begin a new chapter in Gothenburg, where expectations will be high for the striker to deliver on the promise he showed during his breakout season abroad.
